Instructions for the Crochet Star Stitch
Before you start crocheting the Star Stitch Hat and Scarf, (only ONE of these two will get published for FREE tomorrow via the Advent Calendar MCAL), let’s first go through the stitch tutorial and learn how to crochet this stitch.
Instructions:
To make a swatch to practice this stitch, make a chain with an odd number plus 3.
Row 1
Pull up a loop from the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th chain from the hook (6 loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through all, ch 1 (first star stitch), for the next star stitch, *pull up a loop from the chain 1 space, the loop you pulled up last (6th) from the previous star stitch, from the stitch below the 6th loop, and the next 2 stitches (6 loops on your hook), yarn over and pull through all, ch 1, repeat from * until the end, finish with 1 hdc in the last stitch (used by the last star stitch). turn
Row 2
2 hdc per chain 1 space from the previous row, 1 hdc in the last st, turn
Row 3
ch 3 and repeat R1
Row 4
Repeat R2
Repeat R3-R4 for the pattern
