“You made another bag?”
“It’s actually a pouch. And yes, I did.”
“Why?”
“For my crochet hooks.”
“But you already have a pouch or whatever for your hooks.”
“Yes, but that one is full. I need another one.”
“Do you think you have too many hooks.”
“Scandalous! There is no such thing!”
If you need a new zippered storage pouch, please continue below for the complete pattern.
Crochet Zipper Pouch Pattern Inspiration
As I love collecting and creating my own bags and pouches, I decided I needed a new crochet hook pouch.
It is called the Easy Crochet Zipper Pouch. This free crochet pattern sure is easy to make.
Although I used a sewing machine to attach the zipper to the insert or lining of the pouch, I can also do it by hand or even not add a lining at all.
However, if you have sewn with or without a sewing machine before, this should be a fun and easy project for you.
You will create the lining for the pouch first by sewing it onto the zipper. Then you will simply crochet around the zipper and then finish it off.
I use the yarn Boutique Unforgettable from Red Heart and I am so glad I did.
The pouch looks so elegant and stylish at the same time. I now have all my important hooks and scissors as well as tapestry needle and measuring tape in one spot.
Furthermore, this free crochet pattern features the Linked Half Double Croche.
It is not only super easy, but it also prevent gaps and provides the pouch a nice dense texture.
Which means, you will not see the lining thru the crochet stitches. Perfect!

Gauge:

Final Size:
crochet zipper pouch measures 8 inches x 5 inches
Instructions:
Feel free to not add a lining to the zipper.
But the one part that you do need to do to the zipper in order to crochet around is marked with ***
First you will cut the fabric to 2 pieces of 9 x 6 inches. *** Next, you will sew a line on either side of the zipper by hand with a sewing machine (4.8mm long stitches of a straight line).
Next, you fold over one side of the long side of the fabric and attach it to the zipper as shown below.
Sew a straight line (2.5mm stitches) next to the already created line (the first line should be between the second one and the zipper).
Sew on the fabric on both side of the zipper the same way.
After that, you will sew the ends of the zipper together with a zig zag so that you have no gaps or holes later on.
Lastly, you will sew the pouch closed on the other 3 sides.
Then cut the leftover fabric off and cut all 4 corners to an angle to prevent them to poke through later on.
How To Crochet A Pouch
Now it is time to crochet.
Use your 2.25mm hook and hold your crochet zipper pouch such that you will crochet around it in the downwards direction (towards the bottom of the pouch)
Round 1: Attach the yarn, ch 1, 1 sc into each small stitch (I had 70 all around). Skip over the ends of the zipper. Sl st to the first st.
Now change out your hook to a 5.0mm hook.
Round 2 – 11: Ch 3, 1 Linked Hdc in each st, sl st to the first st
Change hook to a 4.0mm hook
Round 12: Ch 3, 1 Linked Hdc in each st, sl st to the first st
Fasten off and use the mattress stitch to sew the bottom closed.
Fasten off and weave in the end.
Now you are finished. You created your own Easy Crochet Zipper Pouch that you can use for your crochet hooks, make up, money or anything else.
I sure love my new Easy Crochet Zipper Pouch that I will use for my special crochet hooks I got from Furls Crochet.
