If you have been a reader of my blog you might have noticed that I simply love crocheting bags. I love the functionality of a crochet bag. They are such a great addition to your wardrobe.
And you can completely customize it from scratch to your taste! You can choose complementing colors to your outfits, make a smaller bag for the evening or a large beach crochet bag. The possibilities are endless!

Simple ways to make a crochet bag
There are many ways to crochet a bag!
One of the ways is crocheting the bottom of the bag. This can literally be any shape from square, rectangle, oval or a simple circle. I would recommend using a sturdy stitch for the bag bottom like linked crochet. This will provide the bag with much needed sturdiness and stability.
For the body of the bag you will simply crochet around the basic shape of the bottom in rounds without increasing. Depending on the purpose of the bag you can make the body lacy with open stitches which is perfect for a market bag. However, if you intend to use it for personal things I suggest using closed stitch to keep your items safe.
If you are just beginning in crocheting bags there is a super simple way to crochet a bag. All you need to do is to crochet a rectangle! This can then be folded and sewn together at the sides to create a bag. You can either add shorter handles or longer straps for a tote style bag.
You can get really creative and make a bag by sewing several crochet motifs together. These can be anything from squares, rectangles, triangles or even hexagons!
This is a great project on the go as crocheting smaller motifs is really portable. Sometimes trying to visualize the process of sewing motifs together can be a little tricky. I would suggest checking out some sewing or quilting websites that will give you some cool ideas.

This is such an unusual way to make a crochet bag. I was inspired by the art of origami when I designed this practical crochet bag. It is made out of a simple crocheted rectangle.
