Materials you will need
- Caron Simply Soft Yarn (315yd/170g, worsted weight yarn)
- Black (1 skein)
- Dark Country Blue (1 skein)
- Harvest Red (1 skein)
- White (1 skein)
- Tiny bit of orange
- 5mm crochet hook – WeCrochet Dots Hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry yarn Needle
- Polyfil
- Googly Eyes (or safety eyes)
- Hot glue for eyes
Gauge
4 sts x 2 rounds = 1 square inch
Size
4.5 x 8 inches
Stitches used in the pattern
Learn all the basic crochet stitches HERE (US crochet terms and abbreviations)
- st/sts = stitch/stitches
- ch = chain
- sl st = slip stitch (I use the invisible sl st – learn it here)
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- Extreme Drop Leaf Stitch
- ATC = Alternative Turning Chain, stacked sc st in the height of a dc st
- hdc = half double crochet
- Flo = front loop only
- Inv sc dec = sc decrease over 2 flo, finished as 1 sc (tutorial here)

ALL first dc sts are ATC
R1: Magic ring, add (3 dc, Ch 2) 4 times, sl st, close the ring.
R2: (3 dc into ch-2 space, ch-1, [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in each corner) 4 times, sl st
R3: in each ch-1 space crochet 3 dc and ch 1, in each corner crochet [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in each corner, finish each round with sl st
Repeat R3 until R11 (with 44 sts across)
Fasten off white, start blue
R12: join in corner with 1 sc,** *1 sc in 3 sts, Extreme Drop Leaf Stitch, ch 1+2, repeat from * until the corner, 3 sc into the corner, repeat from ** 3 more times, finish with first corner and 2 sc sts, sl st
R13: 1 hdc per st, 3 hdc per corner, fasten off and weave in ends
Nose (orange)
R1: Magic Ring, add 4 sc sts, close the ring, continuous rounds
R2-5: 1 sc per st, fasten off
2 Arms
Start with blue for the mittens
R1: Magic Ring, add 6 sc sts, close the ring, continuous rounds
R2: 2 sc per st
R3-7: 1 sc per st
R8: in flo, 1 sc per st, fasten off

Reattach blue yarn halfway on the mittens, crochet an ATC (height of a dc or tr), fasten off, weave in ends

Assembly
Sew arms below the head, then the head-arms set to the center of the lovey.
Sew the hat to the head. Sew on the nose. Add 5 black French knots (or glue on beads, felt, etc) for the mouth. Glue on the eyes
Wrap the scarf and sew it on.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
