Instructions for the Treble Filet Crochet
Before you start crocheting the Gingerbread Man and Snowman Farmer’s Market Bag Pouches, (only ONE of these two will get published for FREE tomorrow via the Advent Calendar MCAL), let’s first go through the stitch tutorial and learn how to crochet this stitch.
Instructions:
To make a swatch to practice this stitch, make a chain with a multiple of 3 plus 1 plus 1, start from the 2nd chain from the hook, crochet 1 ATC (3 stacked sc sts).
The ATC (Alternative Turning Chain) counts as a treble crochet stitch (tr).
Now, *skip 2 and chain 2, 1 tr stitch in the following chain.
Repeat from * until the end.
This is considered a 4 TR Filet Crochet piece as each “pixel square” has 4 sts, even though the last stitch is also the first stitch of the next pixel square (aka a shared stitch). So for this open mesh project you have 1 tr, 2 chains and 1 tr together being 4 sts.
Now practice this stitch technique so you will be ready for the next pattern.
